STORIES FROM THE LAKE
A series of four short films made at the request of the Department of Art and Culture of the Province of Groningen.
The films tell the history of the area around Harkstede, just east of the city of Groningen. This area would be built up with houses. Idea was to visualise the history of the area for future residents.
Unfortunately, or maybe fortunately, the financial crisis of 2009 delayed the implementation of this large-scale building project.
THE STRANGER FROM THE SKY
The story of Sergeant James Clifton King jr. On December 11, 1943 his plane crashed near Harkstede. The name Pilotenweg (Pilot's Road) is named from this event.
THE OLYMPIC DREAM OF HARKSTEDE
In 1993, the Netherlands were trying hard to host the Olympic Games. In Harkstede a rowing course was built to international Standards.
But the Olympics went to America, leaving the rowing course alone.
A tale of inventive entrepreneurship.
